'My Friends' is a previously unreleased and untitled song, performed for the first time at the show at which this EP was recorded. As Geoff said live, the song is about making plans and experiencing moments you know will one day be fond memories.
lyrics
Can't make up my mind,
Should I go to a bar on my
Twenty-first birthday next year?
No, no, no,
I've decided it'd be best
To surround myself with some good, good friends
And stay home together to watch a silly movie.
And then
We can sprawl out on the floor
Of the tiny apartment I'll hopefully own,
Hopefully own by then.
And when
You're too tired to drive home
You can sleep over; in the morning
We'll make breakfast:
Waffles and mimosas.
Perhaps it's a little ambitious,
Or maybe just a tiny malicious,
To promise myself such nice feelings,
But damn it all! I just need relieving.
So really it's fine;
These lovely plans keep me in time.
Like a wide-eyed kid on a field trip,
I'm making memories every minute.
Can't make up my mind,
Would we watch a rom-com that night,
Or maybe a horror with bad acting?
Oh, oh, oh,
We'll watch 'em all 'til the end,
Laugh through the credits, and think of when
We used to hardly know each other.
And then
We can sprawl out on the floor
Of the tiny apartment I'll hopefully own,
Hopefully own by then.
And when
You're too tired to drive home
You can sleep over; in the morning
We'll make breakfast
And watch the sunrise.
